Screened Porch
Your screened porch can quickly become one of the most comfortable places in the house!

Spending time outdoors has been scientifically proven to be good for your health. The vitamin D from sunlight is good for your skin and mood, fresh air is good for your lungs, and the presence of trees and flowers helps you to feel less stressed and more at ease. The more time we can spend outdoors, the better we feel. If you have a screened porch, there are a few things you can do to make it feel as comfortable as possible, which entices you to spend more time outside and get more use out of your addition! Here are some of our favorite ideas for your screened porch:

Get Comfortable

Today’s outdoor cushions are no longer made of the uncomfortable, sticky plastic of the past. Quality outdoor furniture can be just as comfortable as indoor furniture, while still being able to handle being exposed to the outdoors. With this in mind, you might as well opt for the softest, cushiest, most comfortable outdoor furniture possible. A plush outdoor couch coupled with a soft outdoor rug makes for a comfortable oasis for relaxing outside. You can add a little privacy by planting a natural screen outside your screened porch with shrubs or bushes. Grab a book, light a candle, and enjoy your secluded outdoor paradise!

Install Lighting

Proper lighting is key to setting the mood and extending the amount of time you can spend outside. If you are in the process of having a screened porch built, you can install under-lighting on steps for safety, spotlight lighting over eating areas for definition, and light dimmers to create a soft glow in the evening. If you already have a screened porch and are unsatisfied with the lighting, you can have new lighting installed or supplement your existing lighting with fashionable floor lamps.

Make Your Mark

Nothing is better at making a space your own than adding some personality. Do you create art? Place a small sculpture or other waterproof artwork on a small table. Do you have children? Hang a hand print plaque, trophy, or display some other waterproof item. If you want to go minimal but still want to make your space feel like “yours”, try choosing a color scheme for your outdoor furniture that is based on your favorite color.
